Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of critical thinking abilities of class X students in ecological material in Senior High School Tanjung Batu District. This research is a descriptive study with survey research methods. Data collection was conducted in May-June2019. The technique of determining samples using Simple Random Sampling. This research was conducted in four high schools in Tanjung Batu, namely Senior High School Number 1 Tanjung Batu, Nurul Yaqin High School, Bhakti Suci Jaya High School and Jam’iyah Islamiah High School. Data collection techniques used were written test techniques with multiple choice questions with reasons amount 12 items, interviews and documentation. The results showed that students' critical thinking abilities on ecological material in Tanjung Batu Subdistrict mostly had low category critical thinking abilities. This can beseen from the percentage of the value, namely the high category shows 10% of students, 28,75% of students have a medium category, 48,75% of students have alow category and 12,5% of students have a very low category. The indicator of critical thinking ability shows that most students have the ability to strategy and tactics with a percentage of 60.42%. While at the lowest category, elementary clarifications with apercentage of 55.52%. Keywords : Biology, Critical Thinking Ability, Ecology
