Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between parental parenting perceptions with Academic self confidence students SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya. This research uses quantitative approach with correlation method. Sampling using random sampling technique. The population in this study were 256 students of class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya. Research subjects in this study are students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya with the number of students 72 Students. Technique of data collecting using perception scale parenting parenting and questionnaire Academic self confidence. Data processed manually and also with the help of software Microsoft Exel 2007. The results of data analysis of this study indicate that there is a positive relationship between perceptions parenting parents with academic self confidence in SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya. This can be seen from the calculation of the correlation coefficient (r) of 0,07 with the coefficient of determination 49% which states that the perception of parental parenting has a relatively small contribution or contribution to the formation of academic self-confidence due to students' perceptions about parenting patterns is one of the external factors that influence the formation of academic self-confidence and many other factors that are more influential in the formation of academic self-confidence such as self-concept, self-esteem, physical condition, life experience, education, work and environment.
