Abstract
This study aims to make a formulation of gold-white turmeric extract (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe) by varying the temperature. This treatment was given to determine its effect on the characterization of the gold-white turmeric extract produced. The temperatures used are 25°C, 50°C and 100°C. This research was started from the process of extracting white turmeric using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent followed by phytochemical content analysis and extract characterization. The green synthesis method was chosen in synthesizing gold nanoparticles using plant extracts that act as bioreductor agents and stabilizers. The extract used in this study was turmeric white extract. Nanoparticles were characterized by PSA to determine particle size, PDI (Poly Dispersity Index) and potential zeta values. The best formula for nanoparticles is formula 2 which has a percent efficiency of encapsulation of 91.223% with a particle size characteristic of 40.64 nm; PDI value is 0,407 and zeta potential is -15 mV. Measurement of the optimum pH of the formula for 6 cycles shows an increase in the pH value that falls within the acidic pH range. Furthermore, antioxidant testing was carried out to evaluate the ability of antioxidants and through the activity of capturing free radicals 1,1-diphenyl-2-picril hidrazil (DPPH). The IC50 values of the white turmeric extract , gold nanoparticle without extract and the best formula were 16,2688 μg/mL, 30,1628 μg/mL, and 23,8004μg/mL, respectively, indicating their strength as antioxidants.
