Abstract

The mapping of seagrass cover using Citra Sentinel-2A is still rare, and never been applied in the seagrass area of Sari Ringgung Waters. This study aims to determine the type and condition of seagrass cover in Sari Ringgung Waters, analyze the ability of sentinel-2A images to examine the distribution of seagrass in 2019 by used the lyzenga method. The field research was conducted on December 2019 at 11 observation stations. The research methods carried out by field surveys and image processing. The results found 2 types of seagrasses, Thalassia hemprichii and Enhalus acoroides. The results of image processing obtained 3 classes of coastal coverage, namely seagrass, coral reef and sand substrate. Seagrass coverage was classified into 4 classes; i.e. rare class, medium class, dense class and very dense class. The accuracion level of the image classification was 76.92%. The seagrass area for each clasess in 2019 were 14.39 ha (rare class), 17.38 ha (medium class), 14.48 Ha (dense class) and 9.59 Ha (very dense class), respectively.
