Abstract

Settling pond is one of the mining support facilities that used as a place to store and treat acid mine drainage to meet environmental quality standards before flowing into the river. Over time mining operation progresses KPL will experience silting due to the presence of TSS that settles in each compartment. Efforts to overcome this problem are made by planning the maintenance time of compartment. In planning maintenance time of compartmen using method of analytical and laboratory tests then carried out of data processing to obtain compartment maintenance time that proper. In laboratory tests a solid particle size test is carried out to calculate the settling speed so that solid particle settling time is obtainend. Next calculate the speed and time of water to get out of the compartment so that obtain the settling percentage. Then the solid percent tests is used to calculate how many solid particles are deposited from the flowing discharge. From these results get the volume of sludge per day is deposited and the amount of sedimentation until filling the pond. The productivity of the digging tools is useful for obtaining dredging time so that compartment maintenance time from compartments 1 to 7 is obtained 2 months, 3 months, 5 months, 15 months, 10 months, 6 months and 10 months.
