Abstract
The use of three-phase induction motors as load drivers has output in the form of torque, where torque is related to the motor's ability to supply loads. Changes in load will affect the rotational speed of the rotor and the resulting slip value and the amount of torque generated. Based on the results of previous studies the influence of the amount of torque will affect the slip value, input current, rotor current, mechanical power and motor efficiency. Therefore the authors conducted a study to compare the results of calculations based on existing datasheet with the results of measurements in the field at no load, normal load, and added to the conditions at the time of the increase in current that exceeds the nominal current limit of the motor. From the results of research that has been carried out changes in load that tend to increase affect the torque of the load so that it affects motor performance including decreased rotational speed of the rotor and greater motor current. Based on the measurement results, when there is an increase in the current slip value will be greater and the value of torque and power produced will be smaller and the value of the motor efficiency will decrease, if these conditions continue it will shorten the life of the motor and the heat arising on the core and motor coil can be damage the insulation of the motor coil so that the motor will cause damage quickly.
