Abstract

School-age children have a high curiosity that can influence behavior patterns and mindset, children can find their own information in the current era of globalization, information obtained can be directly from other people who know better or information media such as the internet and television. One of the factors causing the behavior is the habit of watching cartoons that contain violence. This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of watching animated cartoon shows with aggressive behavior in 113 Palembang elementary school students. This study uses a quantitative approach with cross sectional design, a total sample of 236 respondents using simple random sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaire sheets which were then analyzed by chi-square statistical tests with a degree of confidence of 95% (0.05). The results showed that the duration of watching animated cartoon shows with aggressive behavior had a significant relationship with p-value (0,000 <0.05). Based on research, researchers expect parents to be able to direct and accompany children when watching animated cartoon shows and choosing more educative shows.
