Abstract
An electric power system does not always avoid interference. If one of the generators in a generation system experiences a disturbance, there will be an imbalance between generated power with installed load, which can cause frequency decrease of an electric power system. Therefore there must be a burden that is released as a defense scheme (protection system). From the research and calculations that have been done by the author at PT. Pertamina (Persero) RU III Plaju-Sungai Gerong using generator technical data in the form of generator's generated power, moment of inertia, kinetic energy, generator rating and magnitude during peak load and low load conditions. The results of load shedding evaluation scheme is carried out in 3 stages, with the frequency response set at each stage which is 49.50 hz, 49.20 Hz and 48.90 Hz. Load shedding at each stage are 6.23 MW, 2.03 MW and 1.90 MW. In every possible cases used, a load shedding evaluation scheme can overcome any potential disruption that can occur. In case 1, case 4 and case 6, the load shedding only reach stage 1. In case 3 the load shedding occurs until stage 2. In case 2 and case 5 occurs until stage 3, each the case will be dealt with by the need for release which varies according to the amount of power lost.
