Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the efforts of the school to increase student’s interest in reading by utilizing the library of SMA Negeri 1 Kisam Tinggi. in this study there were Twelve informants, consisting the head of the library and ten students. Determination of the sample in this study using non-probability sampling techniques using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used in this study were documentation, interviews and observations. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion of data collection techniques that there are five school efforts in increasing students' interest in reading, namely improving library management in terms of loan services, improving library management in terms of spatial planning, improving library management in terms of increasing book collections, library management by giving rewards or improving school library management by providing tasks related to the library Keywords: Increase, Reading  Interest and Utilize the Library
