Abstract
OCCUPATIOAL HEALTH AND SAFETY / ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH FACULTY OF PUBLIC HEALTH SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY Thesis, July 2019 DESSY PUSDIKAWATI Factors Associated With Safe Behavior The Production Unit Workers of PT. Musirawas Lestari Makmur in Lembak Village, Muara Enim Regency in 2018 xiv + 83 Pages+ 23 Tables + 18 Pictures + 4 Attachments ABSTRACT Most work accidents that occur in the industry are triggered by unsafe behavior. A behavioral safety approach is one of the keys to successful accident prevention. Therefore, this study aims to determine the factors associated with safe behavior of the production unit workers of PT. Musirawas Lestari Makmur in Lembak Village, Muara Enim Regency in 2018. This research is a quantitative study that uses a cross-sectional study design. Samples of this study were 94 respondents taken using the simple random sampling technique. Analysis of the data used is univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Based on the results of the study, the majority of workers have behaved well (58.5%) in working with a description of the behavior of workers who follow work procedures, work according to speed, do not use damaged tools, are not affected by drugs, are not sleepy, use PPE , do not eliminate work tools, do not damage tools, do not repair equipment when the engine is still alive, tidy up work equipment and do not talk and work well without supervision. The results of statistical analysis showed that there were 2 variables from internal factors, namely age (p = 0.001; PR 95% CI 1,888 (1,276– 2,793)), length of service (p = 0,005; PR 95% CI 1,705 (1,194 - 2,434)), and 2 variables from external factors, namely the availability of PPE (p = 0.001; PR 95% CI 2,280 (1,297– 4,011)) and training (p = 0,004; PR 95% CI 2,221 (1,173– 4,206)) that have a significant relationship with safe behavior the worker. Thus the related variables are age and years of service (internal factors), the availability of PPE and training (external factors). While the variables that are not related to safe behavior are more dominated by external factors, namely knowledge, supervision, reward and punishment. Suggestions for workers in this study include, giving LOTO to each work tool, making a schedule of checking work tools on a regular basis, adding work shifts, giving Abrasive Hand Gloves and masks to workers, giving penalties that are directly offset by appropriate awards in the form of bonuses or appreciation in the form of distribution in the company's wall magazine to workers who behave safely.
