Abstract

This research examined women’s participation in the Banyuasin election campaign at Talang Kelapa Sub-district in 2018 (case study at Srikandi’s success team). This research aimed to know forms and motives women’s participate in election campaigns. This research used qualitative descriptive method with the case study as the research strategy. In-depth interviews, documentations, and audio visual materials were the data collection technique were used by the researcher. This research used the concepth of political participation by L. Milbrath and M. Goel and rational choice theory by James S. Coleman. In determining the informants this research carried out purposively to get more detail information in accordance with the research problem. The result of this research showed that the form of women’s participation in the election campaign were gladiators, transitional, and spectators. The form of gladiators was in the form of active in political parties, transitional was in the form of becoming a non-political party success team, and spectators were in the form attending campaigns, and supporting candidate. Then, the motives of women participating in the election campaign were to gain personal benefits economically, fulfill personal satisfication, get long term benefits, meet personal satisfication, get long term benefits, and fulfill satisfication for organization/communities.
