Abstract

The full employment is a condition when the labor force tend to seek for a job with significant role in the development of economic. The purpose of this study is to find the factors determining the search for a job in the South Sumatra Province, including parents' income, level of education, gender and the number of family members. The method used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis. The result find oyt that the correlation between the number of family members has a positive effect on the length of job-seeking duration. The number of family members that greatly affected the length of job-seeking duration in South Sumatra are dominantly consisted of 3-4 family members in 184 families (56.6%). The more the number of family members, the higher the needs of income and the more effort need to be spent by a worker. In order to establish full employment conditions, before entering the labor market, it is necessary for labor force to carefully consider the type of education that will be selected and needed in the labor market. The high gender discrimination cases in labor market is a task for the government to consider a more women-friendly environment for female labor force.
