Abstract
This research is a type of descriptive research that aims to determine the ability of students' mathematical problem-solving and student learning activities in contextual learning in the Three Variable Linear Equation System material in class X.IPA SMA Negeri 2 Indralaya Utara. The subjects in this study were students of class X. IPA in SMA Negeri 2 Indralaya Utara with 33 students. The data collected by using tests and observations. Then the data analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of this study it was found that the description of the students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in contextual learning in class X IPA SMA Negeri 2 Indralaya Utara on average by 43.76 with enough categories and a description of student learning activities during learning with an average contextual approach of 67.43 with a good category. The weakness of students' problem-solving abilities lies in the indicators of implementing and checking back. In contrast, the learning activities of students during the learning process with a contextual approach to activities that often arise are the indicators of constructivism and modelling.
