Abstract
The existence of heavy metals in the Banyuasin Estuary is one of the problems for the animals that lives in this area. Likewise for humans who consume fishery products originating from polluted area. One of the solutions needed to prevent the adverse effects of excessive consumption of heavy metals in squid meat is to carry out an analysis of the heavy metal content in squid (Loligo sp.). This research was conducted from November 2019 to February 2020. The results of the analysis found that the average concentrations of heavy metals (Pb and Cu) in squid are 0.35 ± 0.44 for Pb and 1.18 ± 1.06 for Cu. Based on comparison with quality standards, Pb concentrations have passed the BPOM and SNI but are still below the standards of FAO 1983 and Directorate General of Food and Drug Administration, Meanwhile the Cu concentration was still below the quality standard. Based on calculation, the safe limit for weekly consumption of squid (Loligo sp.) are 3.558 g/week for Pb and 147.825 g/week for Cu.
