Abstract

This purposes of the research were (1) to identify the media needs of stop motion video in learning to write description text according to students and teachers, (2) to produce the initial product design of stop motion video media based on the analysis result of students and teachers, (3) to get the alpha test result based on the validity assessment by experts toward the developed media video stop motion, (4) to know the practicality result obtained through beta test. The research method used the Alessi and Trollip development model. The developing stage conducted in the research consisted of planning stage (planning), design stage (design), development stage (development). Media development is prepared based on the analysis needs of students of class VII SMP Srijaya Negara Palembang. This media has passed the validation test by 3 experts. Based on the results of the validity test by media experts, a value of 77,63% was obtained and categorized as valid, validity test by material experts obtained a value of 80,35%, validity test by linguists obtained a value of 77,06%. Thus, based on the assessment of three experts, concluded learning to write descriptive test is declared valid. Based on the results of the beta test, a percentange of 92,64% was obtained with very practical criteria.
