Abstract

Pandemic Coronavirus Disease 19 or COVID-19 is a condition in which COVID-19 infection occurs around the world. One of the biggest problems with COVID-19 is in the process of establishing the diagnosis. Recommendations for detecting the SARS CoV2 virus that causes COVID-19 are real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction / PCR. Several test materials give the highest positive results, including nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swab and sputum. Therefore, this study aims to determine the suitability of the SARS CoV2 PCR results between nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swab examination materials with sputum in diagnosing COVID-19.This analytical observational study with a cross-sectional study design used secondary data from RSMH patients who had taken nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swab and sputum samples in the period July 2020 - August 2020 and carried out a SARS CoV2 PCR examination to diagnose COVID-19 in the central laboratory of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were processed and analyzed by univariate and bivariate using the IBM SPSS Statistic Version 22 and Medcalc applications to determine the level of compatibility between the two SARS CoV2 PCR examination materials.Of the 144 study samples, 41.0% of the samples were male and 59.0% female with a mean age of 40.22 ± 14.44 years and an age range of 1-75 years. The positive values of SARS CoV2 PCR examination on the nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swab and sputum samples were 52.8% and 50.7%. In this study, the Kappa Cohen coefficient value between the two materials for the SARS CoV2 PCR examination was 0.430, which was at a fairly good level. There is a fairly good compatibility in the SARS CoV2 PCR examination data between the nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal and sputum swab examination materials in diagnosing COVID-19 at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Keywords. COVID-19, PCR SARS CoV2, Nasopharyngeal and/or Oropharyngeal Swab, Sputum
