Abstract
Health Data and Information of Indonesia (2016) reported that only 29.5% of infants were breastfed for 6 months. The lower percentage was caused by the decline of breastfeeding with the increase of infants’ age. An effort to raise the coverage of breastfeeding is by implementing support group to breast feeding women. Therefore, this study aims at finding out the influence of breastfeeding support group toward knowledge, attitude, and attachment of mothers in breastfeeding. It was a pre-experimental study with a one group pretest-posttest design. It was conducted at Sakatiga Village with 20 breastfeeding women with infants aged 0-24 months. The sample was chosen using purposive sampling. The results of marginal homogeneity test show that there is an influence on respondents’ knowledge and attachment on breastfeeding before and after support group intervention (pvalue < 0.05), while on attitude before and after intervention, there is no influence (pvalue > 0.05). It is concluded that breastfeeding support group can increase respondents’ knowledge and attachment on breastfeeding. It is suggested that the support group is implemented continuously by periodical supervision and monitoring.
