Abstract
Silage is one of the techniques of feed preservation through microbial fermentation process by bacteria that take place in anaerobic condition at a place called silo. Success in silage making means it can minimize the reduction of forage nutrition at the time of preservation. The microbial fementation process can be driven by the addition of an accelerator of lactic acid bacteria inoculant. The aim of this study is to investigate the physical comparisson of Hymenachne acutigluma that inoculated with different inoculant. This research was held on October until November 2017 in Cattle Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. This research used Completely randomized Design method with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments consists of P0 (Hymenachne acutigluma silage), P1 (Hymenachne acutigluma silage + EM-4), P2 (Hymenachne acutigluma silage + rumen fluid), P3 (Hymenachne acutigluma silage + rice rinsed water). The observed variables are physical characteristics of silage (smell, color and texture), temperature, percentage of mushrooms and percentage of success. The result showed that the treatment has a significant effect (P<0.05) with the percentage of mushrooms and percentage of success. P2 treatment has the best characteristic results with average temperature of each treatment ranging from 28- 30°C. The conclusion of this research is the addition of rumen fluid inoculant in hymenache acutigluma silage has the best physical characteristics with the less percentage of mushrooms and the highest percentage of success.
