Abstract
Permanent magnet manufacture made from mixing of BaFe12O19 and NdFeB powder with mixed silicon rubber (SIR). The percentage of magnetic powder variation was 95% NdFeB and 5% BaFe and 90% NdFeB and 10% BaFe were mixed with percentage of SIR weight with variation of 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%. Characterization includes physical properties of bulk density, mechanical properties analysis using tensile strength, magical properties measurement using gaussmeter, and microstructure analysis using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The use of SIR composition also affects the mechanical properties, physical properties and magnetic properties. Samples with 20% SIR variation have the largest bulk density value, ie 3.28 g / cm3 for 95% NdFeB and 5% BaFe and 3.24 for 90% NdFeB and 10% BaFe of each powder variation used. Meanwhile, in 80% variation SIR has the lowest bulk density value, ie 1.3 g / cm3 for variation of 95% NdFeB powder and 5% BaFe and 1.31 g / cm3 for 90% NdFeB and 10% BaFe powder variation. The result of the measurement of mechanical properties shows that the more percentage of SIR is used, the mechanical properties will increase. This can be seen from the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) value. Samples with 60% variation had the largest UTS value, ie 0.129 N / cm2 for 95% NdFeB powder variation and 5% BaFe and 0.140 N / cm2 for 90% NdFeB and 10% BaFe powder variations. Meanwhile, at 20% variation SIR has the lowest UTS value, that is 0.098 MPa for variation of 95% NdFeB powder and 5% BaFe and 0.067 MPa for 90% NdFeB and 10% BaFe powder variation. Magnetic properties measurements show that many of the percentage of SIR are used, so the magnetic properties will tend to decrease. The highest magnetic properties of the material sample with the variation of silicon rubber with a concentration of 20% .. XRD results obtained are the more taper peaks shown on the graph then the particle size will be smaller. With an average particle size of 3.539Ǻ for 95% NdFeB and 5% BaFe and 2.544Ǻ for 90% NdFeB and 10% BaFe material variations.
