Abstract
Petrophysical and model-based inversion analyzes have been applied to obtain reservoir characterization results to determine the quality of the "BR" well-target field reservoir, Kutai Basin of East Kalimantan. In this research, reservoir characterization was performed on three wells namely BR-01, BR-02, and BR-03 located in Balang Island Formation and Balikpapan Formation layer of sandstone lithology with limestone inserts and clay rocks. The purpose of reservoir characterization is to obtain information and identification of reservoir quality from evaluation of target formation at three well points and the most productive well point will be used for reservoir character analysis laterally using model based inversion. Model-based inversions result in a cross-section of the acoustic impedance model and then the acoustic impedance cross-sectional section provides a map of the acoustic impedance distribution that will provide the acoustic impedance distribution around the target point. The result of reservoir characterization shows the quality of reservoir both around BR-03 well point with average clay volume value 47%, average water saturation 50.7%, and average porosity 27%, net-pay thickness 60.9 m, impedance value acoustic acoustics range from 7000-9000 (m/s).(g/cc) spread evenly around BR-03 well point in the target reservoir layer between Top_MF6 to Top_MF8 depth 2200-2650 m.
