Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the influence customers view on bank interest and income toward the amount of savings at Islamic banks in the city of Palembang. The data used in this study were primary data or field data directly obtained from the respondents. The study used incidental random sampling to get a sample of 100 people consisting of 81 customers of Bank Syariah Mandiri (B S M) and 19 customers of Bank Rakyat Indonesia Syariah (BRI Syariah). The research results revealed that the customers view on bank interest and income had a positive influence on the amount of savings at Islamic bank in Palembang. Partially, income had a significant effect on the amount of public savings at Islamic banks in Palembang while the customers view on bank interest partially did not significantly affect the amount of savings. The insignificance of the customers view on bank interest was due to various reasons, including the lack of public knowledge of the interest rate laws and the habit of using conventional banks because Islamic banks were not so well-known as conventional banks.
