Abstract

Latar belakang: Maloklusi merupakan oklusi yang menyimpang dari normal yang menggganggu fungsi dari gigi geligi. Angle mengklasifikasikan maloklusi menjadi tiga katagori, maloklusi Angle klas I, maloklusi Angle klas II dan maloklusi Angle klas III. Maloklusi Angle klas II memiliki ciri khas, overjet yang besar, dan palatum yang dalam yang akan berdampak pada lebar lengkung intermolar. Pengukuran lebar lengkung intermolar berguna untuk menentukan rencana perawatan dan untuk melihat proses perkembangan selama perawatan. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan lebar lengkung intermolar antara maloklusi Angle klas I dan II periode gigi permanen. Metode: Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan berupa literature review pada sepuluh artikel ilmiah yang didapat dari data base Pubmed dan google scholar dalam kurun waktu 15 tahun terakhir yang memiliki metode penelitian cross sectional. Hasil: Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan bahwa delapan dari sepuluh artikel ilmiah menyatakan adanya perbedaan lebar lengkung intermolar yang bermakna disebabkan oleh faktor genetik, ras, lingkungan (bad habits dan pola makan) antara maloklusi Angle klas I dan maloklusi Angle klas II pada periode gigi permanen. Kesimpulan: Lebar lengkung intermolar pada maloklusi Angle klas II lebih sempit dibandingkan dengan maloklusi Angle klas I periode gigi permanen. Kata Kunci : Gigi permanen, lebar lengkung intermolar, maloklusi Angle Background: Malocclusion is an occlusion that deviates from normal which interferes with the function of the teeth. Angle classifies malocclusion into three categories, Angle class I malocclusion, Angle class II malocclusion and Angle class III malocclusion. Angle class II malocclusion is characterized by a large overjet, and a deep palate that affects the width of the intermolar arch. Measurement of the width of the intermolar arch is useful for determining the treatment plan and for observing the developmental process during treatment. Purpose: This study aims to determine the difference in the width of the intermolar arch between Angle class I and II malocclusions in the permanent dentition. Methods: The type of research carried out is in the form of a literature review on ten scientific articles obtained from the Pubmed and Google Scholar data bases in the last 15 years which have a cross sectional research method. Results: The results showed that eight out of ten scientific articles stated that there was a significant difference in the width of the intermolar arch caused by genetic, race, environmental factors (bad habits and diet) between Angle class I malocclusion and Angle class II malocclusion in the permanent dentition period. Conclusion: The width of the intermolar arch in the Angle class II malocclusion is narrower than the Angle class I malocclusion in the permanent dentition.
