Abstract

Family support is the attitude, action and acceptance of the family towards someone. The family has several support functions, namely informational, reward, emotional and instrumental support. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of family support on the motivation for self-development of persons with disabilities at The Budi Perkasa Social Rehabilitation Center for Physical Disabilities Palembang. This research method uses quantitative methods with associative quantitative types. The population in this study were people with disabilities in The Budi Perkasa Social Rehabilitation Center for Physical Disabilities Palembang, which amounted to 40 people. The variables of this research are family support (X) and self development motivation (Y). Data collection techniques using a questionnaire with a likert scale. The result of the reseacrh conducted show that t count (3.596) > t table (2.254). This means that there is a significant influence between family support on the motivation for self development at The Budi Perkasa Social Rehabilitation Center for Physical Disabilities Palembang by 25.40%.
