Abstract
Non-communicable disease, such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart disease and stroke, the prevalence are increasing from year to year. Unhealthy diet such as excessive consumption of sugar, salt, and fat is one of factors causing this disease. This is influenced by people’s fondness for consuming packaging products which are claimed to be very popular with various groups including college students or last teens because they have a delicious and practical taste, so many people can consumed these products more than recommended. This research aims to see an an overview of sugar, salt, and fat (SSF) intakes from the packaging product which consumed by college students in Palembang. This research is a descriptive research with survey cross sectional design. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling technique and using Estimation Proportion Test (absolute precision). The sample of this research is college students or last teenager which 17-22 years old and currently studying at university in Palembang with 120 research subjects. Data analysis of this research was done by univariate analysis. Sugar, Salt, and Fat’s intake is measured by using Food Record, where along 3 days research, respondent would record what they consume then they’ll report it in the google form link which shared by the researcher. The highest average of sugar intake is in first day of this research with 29,5 gr, and the total average for 3 days is 23,347 gr. The highest average of salt intake is in second day of this research with 0,62 gr, and the total average for 3 days is 0,56 gr. The highest average of fat intake is in first day of this research with 20,99 gr, and the total average for 3 days is 18,77 gr. During the research, there are 2 types of products which consumed but doesn’t have nutrition fact labels. Respondents often consume packaging products during afternoon – evening. Products that are often consumed are instant noodles, packaged drinks, and snacks. Respondent consumed more packaged products on weekdays rather than weekend. The conclusion of this research are sugar, salt, and fat intakes which consumed by college students from packaging product is classified in high category or >20% daily value based on FDA, so that in this case its necessary to limit the intake of sugar, salt, and fat to prevent the risk of non-communicable diseases in the future.
