Abstract

Pegagan duck is a waterfowl that has good potential as a producer of eggs and meat. Efforts to increase the productivity of Pegagan ducks are by providing additional feed additives to feed ingredients. Feed additives are materials that are added to duck rations. An alternative that can be done to replace antibiotics is the use of organic acids as an acidifier. One of the feed additives that can be used is organic acid in the form of an acidifier derived from star fruit juice. This aim of this research was to determine the effect of star fruit juice to the weight of proventiculus, liver, and spleen in phase II of Pegagan ducks. This research was held in the experimental cage of the Animal Husbandry Study Program Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University for two months. The sample used was 45 Pegagan ducks at nine month old. The method used in this study was an experimental method with 5 treatments and 3 replications consisting of P0 (Control), P1 (Drinking water + 4% starfruit solution), P2 (Drinking water + 6% starfruit solution. ), P3 (drinking water + 8% starfruit solution), P4 (drinking water + 10% starfruit solution). The data obtained were analyzed with variance, if there is a significant difference between treatments it is necessary to continue with the Duncan test. The observed variables included proventiculus, liver, and spleen. The results showed that giving organic acid from starfruit juice showed a significant effect (P> 0.05) on the percentage of liver weight obtained, namely 1.36% - 1.81% of live weight. and there was no significant effect on the percentage of proventricular weight obtained, namely 0.42 - 0.57% of live weight and the percentage of spleen weight (P <0.05), which was around 0.05 - 0.10% of live weight. The conclusion in this study is that the administration of organic acids from starfruit juice with a dose of 4% in drinking water (P1) was significantly lower than other treaments, while the percentage of proventiculus weight and spleen was not significantly different.
