Abstract

Adolescence is the stage of a person who is in a transitional period between childhood and adulthood characterized by emotional, physical, cognitive, and changes in relation to something. Menarche age can be said to be normal when it occurs between the ages of 12 to 14 years judging by each individual and area of residence. Early menarche is associated with the risk of developing breast cancer, insulin resistance, abdominal obesity, fat buildup in adipose tissue, hypertension as well as cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study was to find out the factors that affect menarche age in young women at SMP Negeri 16 Palembang. This research is an analytical research correlation with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The research population of all grade VII students at SMP Negeri 16 Palembang amounted to 135 respondents. The sample calculation uses a two-proportion hypothesis test formula and obtained 84 samples. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate data analysis. Bivariate analysis used is chi-square test and pearson chi square. While multivariate data analysis using logistic regression test. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that genetic variables, fast food consumption, family income, maternal education and maternal work are related to menarche age because it has a value (p-value <0.05), nutritional status, and exposure to information media is not related to menarche age because the p-value value >0.05. Based on the results of a multivariate analysis, it was obtained that a genetic variable (p-value=0.000) showed that Ha was accepted.
