Abstract
In this research, experimental design of a measuring instrument for detecting sulfur dioxide gas (SO2) based on the ESP8266 microcontroller has been carried out. The sensor used in this study is the MQ-136 sensor. The purpose of research in this final project is to help and facilitate information on the level of SO2 from a sample containing SO2 gas. The results of this research show that the level of SO2 that has been detected by the sensor will be sent via wifi nodemcu to the computer. Then the output data that has been sent to the computer is displayed in a spreadsheet. The MQ-136 sensor calibration gets an R2 value of 0.9994, this shows that the linearity value of the sensor has an accuracy of 99.94%. It has also been obtained that the results of testing the communication distance via wifi are obtained at a distance of 0-60 meters from the level measuring instrument, the value can still be read on the computer, but when at a distance of >70 meters the data is not readable. From the results of the design of the SO2 level measuring instrument using the MQ-136 sensor, it can be concluded that the tool has been successfully made and has also worked when operated.
