Abstract

This study aims to describe the use and improvement of flashcard media in early reading skills of theme 3 sub-theme 3 in Grade I students of SDN 223 Palembang. This research uses the Classroom Action Research method. The data collection techniques used are Learning Implementation Plans, Observations, and Tests. The sample in this study were Class I students at SDN 223 Palembang. The results showed an increase in initial reading skills using flashcard media in Cycle I and Cycle II based on the four aspects of observation that had been determined in this study, namely as follows. First, the percentage value in Cycle I is 3.45 and in Cycle II is 4.00. Second, the percentage value in Cycle I is 3.33 and in Cycle II is 3.91. Third, the percentage value in Cycle I is 2.91 and in Cycle II is 3.58. Fourth, the percentage value in Cycle I is 2.70 and in Cycle II is 3.25.
