Abstract
Waste is a garbage left from a production which can cause polution and health problems, some people consider garbage to be a material that can no longer be used which should be thrown away immediately, if garbage disposal is done continuously it can lead to be a garbage buildup. One type of waste that can be found in our environment is waste from used beverage cans. Therefore, a research is done by melting the used beverage cans and fusing it with another material. The alloy is lead (Pb) which is melted at 636o and then printed. The standard specimens used were ASTM E8M and JIS Z 2202. After that, three test methods were done, which were tensile test, hardness test, and impact test. The purpose of this study was to analyze the comparison of the mechanical properties of aluminum melting with lead alloy. From the analysis it was found that specimens without mixtures produced lower values than the specimens with lead alloy (Pb) at each test. For the tensile test of non-mixed specimens it produced the ultimate voltage σu which is 6,217 kgf / mm², while the specimens with 3% lead alloy produced the ultimate voltage σu which is 6,793 kgf / mm², 6% produced the ultimate σu which is 7,809 kgf / mm², 9% produced the ultimate σu which is 10,558 kgf / mm². For hardness test of non-mixed specimens produced an average value of BHN 48,129, while specimens with 3% lead alloy produced an average value of BHN 48,821, 6% produced an average value of BHN 49,252, 9% produced an average value of BHN 50,926. For impact test of non-mixed specimens it produced an average impact value of 3,952 joules, while specimens with 3% lead alloy produced an average impact value of 4,607 joules, 6% produced an average impact value of 4,930 joules, 9% produced average impact value of 5,572 joules. From those three results of the test it can be seen that the lowest ultimate value of σu, BHN, and impact value is on aluminum without mixture, and the ultimate highest value σu, BHN, and impact value is on aluminum with 9% lead alloy. This is due to the nature of lead which is able to protect other metals from porosity
