Abstract

Analysis of the learning abilities and difficulties of students in the Covid 19 era in determining characters in fairy tales in class IV at SDN 11 Indralaya. This study aims to describe the abilities and difficulties of students in determining the characters in fairy tales. This study uses a descriptive research method with a quantitative approach. Data were obtained through tests in the form of choices and experiences to students, then interviews with classroom teachers. The results showed that the average ability of grade IV A students at SDN 11 Indralaya was in the good category, with details there were 5 students (19.2%) in the very good category, 7 students (26.9%) in the good category, 11 students (42.3%) are in the sufficient category, and 3 students (11.5%) are in the less category. The character values that were successfully determined by the students were religious (80.7%), disciplined and honest (76.9%), curiosity (75%), friendly/communicative (69.2%), work hard work (61.5%), social and environmental care (59.6%), responsibility (51.9%), and love of peace (24%). Then, the difficulty of students in determining the value of characters in fairy tales, namely because students' reading interest is very small, students are rarely given readings by their parents, students can only determine the value of characters that usually appear in their reading, not all 18 characters are mastered, Then there are some students who cannot read.
