Abstract

This study aims to prove the effect of reading interest on student learning outcomes in economics subjects at SMA Negeri 11 Palembang. This research is an experimental type of research that uses a causal research design. The population in this study were all XI IPS students at SMA Negeri 11 Palembang. The sample used the Cluster Random Sampling technique and class XI IPS 5 was chosen as the experimental class as the sample in this study, which consisted of 38 students. The data collection techniques used in this study were questionnaires and tests, while the learning process was carried out online using zoom and whatsapp. The hypothesis uses parametric t-test sample and the results obtained tcount = 13.46 > ttable 1.993 then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of reading interest on the learning outcomes of students at SMA Negeri 11 Palembang. It is recommended for educators to be more creative in providing activities to students in each material so that students are able to better understand the material from the activities they experience and develop students' thinking skills.
