Abstract
Research development has a view to produce comic media. The development of this comic media uses Rowntree's development model and Tessmer's evaluation. Rowntree development model consists of three stages, namely the planning stage, development stage and evaluation phase. In the planning stage of child needs analysis and the formulation of learning objectives, the stage of development is about the development of topics, drafting, and production of prototypes as the initial product of the media, at the evaluation stage or by testing the product prototype and make improvements based on input obtained before then evaluated formative proposed by Tessmer consisting of five stages, namely self evaluation stage, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, small group evaluation and field test. Technique of collecting data using observation. From the results of the expert review obtained improvements in the form of using effective words such as do not dispose garbage in river, change comic cover, comic title, comic story line then obtained the average value of the assessment results from experts on comic media of 3.68 (very category valid). The one-to-one evaluation stage of comic media usage was obtained by improvements in the form of a more varied writing and obtained an average of observations on the use of child comic by 83% (excellent category). Small group evaluation stage of comic media usage got improvement in the form of picture and story composition replaced and obtained average of observation result of children equal to 88% (very good category). In the field test stage the use of comic media obtained improvement in the form of comic color more clarified and obtained the average result of the observation of the child by 95% (very good category). From all stages that have been done then dapt concluded that the comic media environment declared valid, practical and has a potential effect for children.
