Abstract
Conversion of cellulose and glucose to levulinic acid using oxotrinuclear [Cr30(00CC6H5)6(H20)](N03) and [Cr30(00CC2H5)6(H20)](N03) as catalyst at 80 °C in water as medium has been carried out. The result showed that levulinic acid did not formed in the conversion of cellulose and glucose using oxotrinuclear as catalyst for reaction time 10 hours. The extended reaction time until 30 hours formed hydroxy-methyl-furfural as a by-product without levulinic acid as a main product.
