Abstract
Mathematical thinking is a thinking process in developing mathematical perspectives involving other mathematical abilities such as modeling, reasoning, proving, symbolization, representation, abstraction, and mathematization. This research is a quantitative descriptive study which aims to determine and categorize mathematical thinking ability type mathematization of students at Senior High School number 1 Palembang in solving mathematical problem solving questions based on mathematical thinking indicators in Karadag. The subjects in this study were students of class X, XI, and XII which consist of 20 students. This study uses data collection techniques in the form of tests and data analysis using qualitative methods. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that, the most dominant students' ability in solving problem solving questions is mathematical ability type formalization. The second ability is type connecting as a type of mathematization ability which is quite owned by the subject but not dominant. The mathematical thinking ability that appears the least on the subject is the ability with the type of geometrization. But from the three problem solving questions tested, none of the subjects solved the problem by using a strategy that illustrated the ability of type optimization.
