Abstract
Energy is an important part of human life for the sake of a quality life. Eco-friendly energy alternatives by utilizing solar energy as a substitute for fossil energy, namely Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) technology which able to convert solar energy into electrical energy with the support of dye. Dye can be obtained from organic ingredients by extracting plant parts such as roots, leaves, flowers and fruit. Titanium dioxide oftenly used as a main material for DSSC because this semiconductor has a wide bandgap so that it can make the absorption of light by dye absorb more energy. This study was aimed to analyze the performance of dye sensitized solar cells using several variations of organic dye as source of light sensitizer and variations in light intensity. This research was conducted in February 2019 until May 2019 at the Laboratory of Energy and Electrification and the Laboratory of Chemical Agricultural Products, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research method used is the experimental method with several stages of research as follows : 1) DSSC structure preparation, 2) DSSC preparation and sequencing and 3) DSSC testing. The working electrode and counter electrode in this study used capacitive touch screen glass which had a resistance between 0.21 kΩ to 9.94 kΩ. DSSC was tested with variations of organic dye as a source of light sensitizer which were: dye from kersen fruit skin, dye from senduduk fruit and mixed dye (water hyacinth leaves, senduduk fruit and yellow swamp flower) using light intensity from high low to (high, medium and low) . The parameters observed were the characteristics of absorbance dye as natural dyes, current, voltage, power, fill factor and DSSC efficiency. The electrical characteristics of DSSC generated highest efficiency of 2.5201% in dye from kersen fruit skin with low light intensity (249.67 W/m2) with Voc, Isc, Pmax, FF values of 466 mV, 0.0223 mA, 2.1777 mW, 0.2096 and DSSC produced the low efficiency from 0.0256% in the dye of senduduk fruit with light intensity high (694.33 W /m2). with Voc, Isc, Pmax, FF values of 213 mV, 0.0029 mA, 0.153 mW, 0.2477.
