Abstract
Preparation of nano composite was reacted between Ca-bentonite and CuFe204 became CuFe204-Ca bentonite composite. The aimed of this research was to determined the optimum absorption of CuFe204-Ca bentonite composite to adsorb Cr(VI). Preparation of CuFe204 and CuFe204-Ca bentonite composites prepared by coprecipitation from CuCl2 and FeCb compounds with ratio of CuFe204 : Ca- bentonite = 2:1. Characterization of Ca-bentonite, CuFe204 and CuFe204-Ca bentonite composite performed by X-Ray Difraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope-Electron Dispersive Spectrometry (SEM-EDS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). XRD performed of difrfaction pattem CuFe204-Ca bentonite composite with the decreasing intensity resulted from each of 20 angles from Ca-bentonite and CuFe204. Characterization of SEM-EDS and TEM resulted the composition of CuFe204-Ca bentonite composite with a particle size of CuFe204 was resulted by 5-50 nm. The composite of CuFe204-Ca bentonite was applied to adsorb Cr(VI) with variations of weight, contact time, and pH. The optimum condition was observed in 0.1 gram with concentration of solution Cr(VI) 50 mg/L, optimum contact time by 60 minutes and solution pH by 6. Adsorption of CuFe204-Ca bentonite composite was resulted by 23.3440 mg/g.
