Abstract
The preparation of metal oxide CaO based on eggshell has been carried out by decomposition of various temperature at 600, 700, 800, 900 dan 1000°C. Catalyst were characterized using XRD difiractometer. Furthemore, from the XRD pattem can be the determined the optimum temperature for preparation of CaO, then the characterization of CaO will be extended using FT-IR spectrophotometer and BET analysis. The results showed that the optimum temperature for preparation of CaO is 900°C with peak at 20 32.3°, 37.4°, 53.9°, 64.2° and 67.5°. FT-IR spectrum showed the unique vibration for Ca-0 at 393 cm"1. The BET analysis showed that CaO has surface area 68 m2/g, pore volume 1.65 cm3/g and pore size 6.6 nm which can be classified as mesoporous.
