Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe what and how the cultural elements contained in the collection of short stories "Sepasang Sepatu Tua" by Sapardi Djoko Damono and to find out the implications for literary learning. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used are documentation techniques and library study techniques. The data analysis technique was carried out by identifying, classifying, distinguishing, and concluding the cultural elements in the collection of short stories, A Pair of Old Shoes by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The results of this study were found seven elements of culture, namely language, art, religious systems, knowledge systems, livelihood systems, social organizations, and systems of living equipment and technology, all of which are part of cultural values in the form of language values, artistic values, divine values spiritual values, ritual values, intellectual values, life values, social values, and human values. The results of this study can be implicated in learning Indonesian, especially in KD to find cultural values and cultural elements in the short stories that are read. From the results of this study, the short story A Pair of Tua Shoes can also be used as a literary reading material for junior high and high school students.
