Abstract
This type of research is descriptive qualitative research, which aims to describe students' critical thinking skills in the VIII grade SPLDV material through HOTSbased learning. This research was conducted at MTs Al-ittifaqiah Indralaya, with 4 research subjects from class VIII.5. The data collection technique used was observation, a written test in the form of a description of 3 questions and interviews. Based on the results of the study, after the HOTS-based learning was carried out, it could be seen that 30 of 34 students were able to generate interpretation indicators and 27 of 34 students were able to generate analytical indicators, while for evaluation indicators, the general error made by students is when performing arithmetic operations, so students make mistakes that have an impact on the next indicator, namely the inference indicator.
