Abstract
This study aims to explain the efforts of the Indonesian government in protecting female Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Malaysia during the Covid-19 pandemic. Coronavirus-2019 was first identified in Wuhan, China, at the end of 2019. Indonesia as a country that has a protective function, has the responsibility for the survival of the people, taking protective measures to protect female migrant workers in Malaysia from the threat of Coronavirus-19. This research uses Securitization theory as the rationale. The research method used is a qualitative-descriptive approach, where the author describes the phenomena that occur by telling the situation. Sources of data used are secondary data obtained from various sources. The results of the study indicate that the Indonesian government has implemented securitization efforts in order to protect female migrant workers in Malaysia during the Covid-19 pandemic in accordance with three concepts, namely Securitizing Move, Referent Object & Existential Threat and Extraordinary Measures. Which Indonesia is a securitization actor that carries out securitizing moves, Indonesian female migrant workers as objects, the corona virus as a threat, then extraordinary measures taken by Indonesia, namely implementing the Covid-19 Emergency Response policy; providing assistance, free vaccines and tests, as well as repatriation for women migrant workers who are vulnerable to infection.
