Abstract
The objective of this research was to know the levels of using Maize straw silage as the substitute of forage in ruminant feed by in vitro technique. This research was divided in two phase, the first phase is making maize straw silage, and the second phase was in vitro analysis, at Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed Animals, Agricuiture Faculty, at Sriwijaya University. This research used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications S0 (0% maize straw silage + 100% benggala grass), S](75% maize straw silage + 25% benggala grass), S2 (50% maize straw silage + 50% benggala grass), S3 (75% maize straw silage + 25% benggala grass). Parameters were measuremed degree of acidity (pH), concentration of NH3, gas production, dry matter digestibility, and organic matter digestibility. The result showed that the treatments were significantly differences (P<0,05) in concentration of NH3 and gas production on 6, 12, 24, and 72 hours of incubation but the treatments were nodifffance (P > 0,05) in pH, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility. The conclusion of this research was using silages maize stoner until level 75% can substitute of benggala grass in ruminant feed.
