Abstract

Die objective i>f' this research was to identifv potency and Inhibitant of ruminant livestock development conceming pasture availability and labours as wcll as mappnig and anaiyzing the priority of ruminam govemment livestock agency in Ogan iiir South Sumatra. This Study vvas conducted from November 2004 to Januarv 2005. The data were taken trohugh survev and interview with the farmer and related govemment Service. Sistematic method was used in determining the coefiicient of accommodate bog capacitv (Hail er aL 1964). Processing data was done by using the capacitv calculation of ruminam popuiation improvement (Livestock Directrorate General, 1998). Based on observation and data processing. it is well known that the value for effective capacitv of ruminant popuiation (K.KJPTR) is positive that is 47.139 ST vvhich shows that it stiil can be improved up to 80,56 % from the previous popuiation. Main inhibition from the developing of ruminant popuiation is pasture resources which is low beside this livestock work stiil put aside. Priority of livestock development consecutively are Muara Ruang, Tanjung Batu, indralaya, Pemulutan, Rantau AJai, and Tanjung Raja.
