Abstract

Food security and nutrition is a development unit that aims to realize efficient, quality and competitive human resources. Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is one of the nutritional problems that occur in pregnant women that can adversely affect pregnancy and future generations. This study aims to find out the relationship of food security, namely the adequacy of food availability, stability of food availability, access or affordability of food, and food quality with Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) Events in pregnant women in Puskesmas Pagar Gunung District Lahat. The study design used was cross sectional, with a total sample of 113 pregnant women in the work area Puskesmas Pagar Gunung District Lahat. The data collection by means of interviews using questionnaires and anthropometric measurements using the Upper Arm Circumference band (UAC). Based on the results of the study found 23.0% of pregnant women experienced chronic energy deficiency (CED), with an analysis of the variable adequacy of food security (p value = 0.001), food availability (p value = 0.001), stability of food availability (p value = 1,000), access or affordability of food (p value = 0.013), food quality (p value = 0.004). So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the adequacy of food security, food availability, access or affordability of food, food quality with the incidence of chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant women, and there is no significant relationship between the stability of food availability with the incidence of chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant mother.
