Abstract
This study aims to discover the effect of problem-based learning on the sub-theme of the beauty of unity and integrity of my country on the learning outcomes and self-directed learning of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 11 Indralaya, and the relationship between learning outcomes and self-directed learning as the result of problem-based learning. This study uses experimental research method with one group pretest-posttest design. The data collection techniques used are tests and questionnaires. The sample were 26 students of class IVB who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The result showed that there was an effect of problem-based learning on the learning outcomes and self-directed learning as indicated by the increase of students learning outcomes by 173,33 points and the percentage of self-directed learning which are in the medium category. The result also showed a positive and significant relationship between learning outcomes and self-directed learning.
