Abstract
This research aimed to determine the effect of palm oil fiber on the physical and mechanical properties of particle board mixture acacia and palm oil fiber. This research used descriptive method with the mechanical test of particle board were conducted in the laboratory. Data presented in tables and graphs, by comparing physical and mechanical properties based on three types of treatment filler material mixture of acacia and palm oil fiber and the testing performed in three repetitions. The first treatment A1 had the filler ratio 75% (palm oil fiber) : 25% (acacia fiber), the second treatment A2 50% (palm oil fiber) : 50% (acacia fiber) and the thrid treatment A3 25% (palm oil fiber) : 75% (acacia fiber). The parameters observed including moisture content test, density, volume development, constancy broken and elasticity also internal bound. The results showed that fabricated particle board was belong to fiber wood type decorative which had a density value between 0.40 to 0.84, the value of average water content - 7.86% which fulfilled the standard of average water content for fiber wood that must be under 14%. Some fabricated particle board from waste from palm oil fiber and acacia keep in under SNI 03-2105-2006. Overall, the particle board that had best properties of particle board with A1 treatment (75% : 25%) water content of 7.57%, the density of 0.55 g/cm2, MOR 14.08 kgf /cm2, MOE 2628.95 kgf/ cm2 and IB 11.36 kgf/cm2
