Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence student interest in choosing the economic education study program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University. The research method is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The sample in the study amounted to 79 people. Data collection techniques are questionnaires and interviews. Based on the results of this study indicate that the factors that influence student interest in choosing the Economic Education Study Program are dominated by the perception factor, namely 88% and the motivation indicator. The motivation indicator shows a percentage of 77%, the desire indicator by having a percentage gain of 85%, the family indicator with a percentage of 61 %, the school indicator with a percentage gain of 59%. Perception indicators dominate. Factors that influence student interest in choosing Economics Education study program at FKIP Sriwijaya University batch of 2021 are dominated by internal factors, namely the existence of high motivation and desire to choose Economic Education study program while indicators are dominated by perception indicators. It is recommended that the economic education study program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University, be able to further improve the quality of the study program with the aim of maintaining the high interest of students in choosing this Economics Education study program.
