Abstract

Sugar is one of Sembako or Nine Staples. In South Sumatra itself, there is PT. Cinta Manis which is a sugar company. The sugar industry in Indonesia uses a semi-modern concept. This can be seen from the milling system starting from the sugarcane plant to the final process of becoming liquid sugar in the process. The purpose of this study is to make a DED or Detailed Engineering Design from a Roller which is the main part of the milling station for the sugarcane milling process, to be taken from the essence, which is the main component in the manufacture of sugar. The main material of rollers is AISI 1045. With the size and number of rollers adjusted to the Milling Station contained in PT. Cinta Manis, the roller is made according to the criteria as well as optimal efficiency in the sugarcane milling process. With the material fatigue factor calculated and adjusted to the size of the roller, the result obtained is that the roller with AISI 1045 material has a good Life-Cycle, the endurance limit influenced by the marin factor obtained from the calculation is 145.7 MPa, with a grinding rate of 150 tons and the weight of the roller according to the data estimated at around 13 tons, then the Life-Cycle Time of the Roller is 2,6533 x 10^5 a cycle, and with calculations influenced by size and material factors using the maximum voltage obtained from the moment value 8,0863 MPa is 2,6146 x 10^11 Cycle according to the goodman modified diagram factor. So it can be concluded that with such a design and material AISI 1045, rollers at the milling station at PT. Cinta Manis has a High life-cycle time, so it is worth to used.
