Abstract
The use of dyes is very important to improve the quality of liquid lipstick preparations. The natural dye used comes from Purple Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) which contains anthocyanins. This study aims to obtain the best formula for liquid lipstick preparations from different concentration variations. This study uses a survey through a hedonic test. Purple sweet potato was extracted using maceration method with 96% ethanol then phytochemical screening and characterization were carried out. The preparation of liquid lipstick was done by varying the dye concentration, namely 15%, 20%, and 25% (w/w). The liquid lipstick preparation was evaluated for the stability of the preparation. Data analysis was carried out to obtain the best formula for liquid lipstick preparations. The yield of the purple sweet potato extract was 64.25%. The results of phytochemical screening showed that the ethanolic extract of purple sweet potato contained flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and triterpenoids. The characterization of the extract contains a water content of 9.96%; water soluble extract content of 40.64%; ethanol soluble extract content of 26.30%. The hedonic test results obtained showed formula 3 as the best formula with the color parameter and texture parameter values of 3.85 and 4. The best formula for liquid lipstick was found in formula 3 which had a liquid form, purplish red color, rosace aroma, texture. soft and has a viscosity of 1,188,667 cps, good greasing power, adhesion >60 seconds, does not cause irritation, redness, pH 5.63, and has good characteristics and stability. Based on the results of parametric statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA showed a p value <0.05 so it can be concluded that variations in the concentration of purple sweet potato extract had a significant effect on determining the best formula produced.
