Abstract

The purposes of this research were : (1) to identify potency and constrain of ruminant livestock based on pasture availability and labours, (2) to analize the priority of ruminants livestock development in Palembang City of South Sumatera. This research was done ffom December 2007 to February 2008. The calculation methode that used was effective capacity calculation of ruminants population improvement (Livestock Directorate General, 1998). The result of this research showed that value for effective of ruminants population (KPPTR) in Palembang City was positive about 16.706,67 ST. Main priority for the ruminants livestock development area in Palembang City are Gandusi Kertapati, Ilir Barat I, Sako, Kalidoni, Sukarami, Ilir Timur II, Plaju, Seberang Ulu I, Ilir Timur I.
