Abstract

The objectives of this research is to determine the best dose of sulfur on the quality of forage grasses kumpai based growth and to study the effect of sulfur fertilization on kumpai quality grass {Ischaemum rugosum) as ruminant feed. This research was conducted at the experimental field of Animal Science Department of the Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University, it was held for two months from September to December 2009. This research use randomized block design (RBD). The treatment used is sulfur, treatment with the doses as follows. So = 0 kg S ha'1. Si = 35 kg S ha"1, S2 = 70 kg S ha'1 and S3 = 105 kg S ha'1. Each treatment consisted of three groups as replication. The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of tillers (stems per clump) and number of leaves (pieces per hill). The result shows all treatments (Si = 35 kg S ha"1, S2 = 70 kg S ha'1 and S3 = 105 kg S ha'1) has no significant effect on plant height, number of tillers, and number kumpai leaf blade of grass {Ischaemum rugosum).
